If a fire occured because of my landlords negligence what are my rights? I live in Connecticut.?

A week ago my apartment caught on fire. The offical cause of the fire hasn't been determined yet but they think that it's because of a heater malfuntioning. If the fire was caused because of negligence on the landlords part what are my rights? We didn't really lose much, a couple of area rugs, our couch and a some of the kids toys. But, we have to buy all new food because of smoke and wash all the linens in the apartment. We are also staying in a different town and have to travel back to our town twice a day to bring our daughter to school and pick her up, which is costly gas wise. Again, just wondering what my rights are with reimbursement.
