Who should a company hold a higher responsibility towards? The shareholders or the employees?

A public company will fire workers to protect its future and the value of its shares. In today's world, most people go from job to job. They don't work at one job for their entire work life. There is no job security. Shareholders are paying for that kind of et protection. They are risking their capital for the company to succeed. In a perfect world, a well- run company takes good care of its employees, while working for its shareholders at the same time. These are not mutually exclusive options. There are plenty of great companies with great benefits and a wonderful work atmosphere. Still, the employees will lose their jobs in order to obtain financial efficiency.
